Her tiny hand squeezes his fingers.

“Daddy? Where are we going?”

“Over there. You’ll see, precious,” he says in his soft, yet secure voice.

The small girl looks ahead, thinks for a moment, and then looks at her father’s face.

“But, Daddy, we haven’t been there before.”

Her daddy says with a grin, “Dear, I’ve already been there. It’s going to be okay…Just follow me.”

He starts to take a step, but the girl grabs his leg and clings even closer.

“But, Daddy, don’t leave me!” I don’t know if I want to go! Stay here.”

“I will never leave you. Don’t worry. Just trust me.”

He bends down so that he can look into his daughter’s trembling eyes.

“Can I ride on your shoulders, Daddy?” she says through her quivering lips.

He smiles again.

“You’re getting too big for Daddy’s shoulders…But I won’t let go of your hand. Trust me.”

“Ok,” she sighs,

“but, Daddy? Help me. I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

His smile widens. “Ok. Don’t worry.”

“And, Daddy?”

“Yes?”

She pulls her father closer as her lips begin to form a smile.

“I love you, Daddy.”

He stares into his daughter’s big, sparkling, brown eyes and as tears begin to well up in his own he replies, “I love you, too.”

Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow me afterward.” Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you sake.” Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for my sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied me three times. “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me…And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” John 13:36
